Live a #NoMatterWhat Life Challenge

What does living a #NoMatterWhat life look like?

It’s a big question we’ve been asking ourselves and others to get to the heart of what really makes a difference for people. Of course, there are those big goals and highlight reels we want to share when we reach them… but more importantly, what does the day to day look like that got you there?

That’s really what a #NoMatterWhat life is about.

After all, as Mark Allen, 6x Ironman World Champion said “If you do something once it can make you feel good. If you do it 1000x it can transform your life”. It’s taking those small actions over and over again which are the building blocks of a breakthrough.

We’ve pulled together research, input from the #NoMatterWhat Community and our own experience into a 28 day challenge.

The challenge is to do the following every day, 6 days a week

(Sunday, or the day of your choosing, is off for some proper rest).

15 minutes of meditation. Meditate with a breathing practice, a walk in the wilderness or with a mantra you may have. However you do it, taking time to center yourself each day will give you peace and clarity that might be impossible to otherwise achieve.

15 minutes of reading. It’s hard to understate the information, inspiration and ideas that come from reading (ok, ok… or listening to an eBook). The best of the best find time to learn every single day.

15 minutes of a creative activity (writing, playing music, drawing…) Creative activity has been linked with brain development, a reduction in deterioration, and let’s be honest, can be a lot of fun.

15 minutes of exercise. Physical activity can get us thinking in new ways and (as we all know) keeps us healthier. Do it in 15 minutes or over several hours, either way, make sure you’re making like Erick Morillo in the 90’s and move it, move it.

Take a picture of one thing you’re grateful for. It’s not Thanksgiving, but as I posted last November [5 Ways to BE Grateful], being grateful makes you happier, healthier and more productive all at the same time. Don’t save it for a holiday, we’re going to cultivate it every day.

Write down 1 amazing thing that happens each day. There’s a small part of your brain called the RAS [you can read more on the Reticular Activating System in How to Tune your Brain to look for Breakthroughs] that is tuned to look for more of what you’re focused on (positively or negatively focused on by the way). By writing down one amazing thing every day, you’ll naturally and automatically be looking for them.

Sleep with your phone away from your bed. I don’t need to cite an article for us all to already know (and I’d even say intuitively understand) that sleeping with your phone on your nightstand or in your bed probably isn’t good for your sleep. Your duration and quality of sleep map directly to your mood, recovery and brain function. This is a #NoMatterWhat life – let’s set ourselves up to win it.

We’re going to be talking about the challenge, our progress and even breakdowns in the #NoMatterWhat Community. If you’re not part of it already – join us here to take part in the conversation. It’ll be especially helpful on those days you don’t feel like doing much (if you’re anything like me those days are a little too frequent in February). At the end of the 28 days we’re going to take a look back at how we all did and adjust the challenge from there to keep it rolling.

Listen, I know you’re busy already.

But have you ever heard that expression: “If you want to get something done, give it to a busy person”?

Why?... because when you’re focused on getting things done, we’re all surprisingly good at getting things done! Your push to succeed in this challenge will translate into the other areas of your life as well.

Living a #NoMatterWhat life isn’t just about the big wins – it’s about the small things we do every day.

Now, let’s go live that #NoMatterWhat life one small action at a time.
