Why Your Greatest Achievement Will Never Be on Your Resume
MARCH 31, 2025
While we often focus on external achievements—projects, goals, and milestones—our greatest and most meaningful work is the inner growth and transformation of who we become along the way. Ultimately, we are the most important thing we’re building.
When pursuing goals and tackling challenges, consciously reflect on who you are becoming through the endeavor.
We just got back from two weeks of traveling—an experience that spanned the full spectrum of human existence. On one end, we spent time with people deeply connected to New Zealand indigenous traditions, carrying wisdom that has stood the test of time. On the other, we worked with Australian convenience store executives, navigating the fast-paced world of modern industry innovation. And somewhere in between, I set out to summit the tallest mountain in Australia, Mount Kosciuszko.
Mount Kosciuszko
All of these experiences were wildly different. But they all pointed to the same truth: Everyone is called to grow
No matter where I travel or who I am with, I engage with people thinking about deeper connections, their impact on the world, and how to honor a legacy while taking the next step into the future.
The energy of growth is universal.
But what stood out to me most?
At the core of all this striving—beyond business results, achievements, or even summiting a mountain—is the undeniable fact that we are our greatest work.
It's not just about the milestones we reach or the goals we check off. It's about who we become along the way.
At the end of it all, the greatest achievement isn’t a business success, a peak conquered, or an innovation launched—it’s how those things shape us, change us and grow us into the person we become. And how we share that with others. The real work is inside.
So, as you chase your goals, remember how they grow you matters just as much. That’s the masterpiece that truly matters and will be the work of our lives.
